Moderately Talented Distance Runner: Nick Hilton
Published by
Today starts my blogging of my journey to hopefully qualify for the Olympic Trials in the 3000m Steeplechase. My name is Nick Hilton, former runner for the Division II School Lock Haven University. That about covers the most important biographical information. My journey began in July, when I started formally training once again under the incredibly accomplished Coach, Aaron Russell of Lock Haven. Summer was long...and hot, and that about sums it up! I'm working with my University as the Volunteer Assistant Coach with the LHU XC teams, and this has provided a unique experience and challenge for me. Watching my teammates run has been both exhilarting and exaserbating, as I want nothing more than to be out there with them. Training as an elite/sub-elite (still working on that classification) has been effing tough. I must admit that I have really no clue as to how I'm supposed to go about this. I am running for a fantastic store (Scranton Running Co.) who have been incredibly helpful in getting me on my feet, and keeping those same feet well equipped! It's definitely a struggle, trying to support oneself and run at an elite level, without getting lost along the way as I have. The focus is not easy to keep up, and requires more dedication than I could have imagined, but it'll all be worth it in the end if dreams are realized.
